Take Action!

This People’s Agenda is a tool for us to move beyond resisting what we don’t want for our country, and start imagining and building the future we do want.

We can use it to re-centre the political conversation around the values so many of us share and introduce a positive and cohesive vision of an alternative future. And we can use the power of our 180,000 strong (and growing) movement to build a better future for all of us and the planet we love.

Right now, the first and most urgent action we can all take towards that future is to vote for a fair and flourishing Aotearoa New Zealand – for us the people, our environment and our shared future.

Use this list of actions to empower your friends to vote for the People’s Agenda.

Together we have power. Each vote counts. Be the difference this election.

5.

pick up the phone & CALL your friends & family

Use this guide for a short conversation with your friends about voting for the People’s Agenda. Adapt, add or omit to suit you!

We encourage you to try and help at least 10 friends to unleash their political power this election. If all 180,000 of us do it, together we’ll reach more than one million New Zealanders!

Break the ice – be yourself!

Did you watch the Debate last night?

Ask an initial question – get a sense of how they feel about the Election, and what they know already.

  • Are you following the election news?
  • Do you feel strongly about where New Zealand is heading - where do you think we’ll be in 2040?
  • What is most important for you when voting?
  • Have you heard any politicians talking about those things?

Tell them why you’re getting in touch and why it’s important for you

I think it’s really important to vote for politicians who are really committed to [the environment/fairness/looking after each other]

Think of an example that you feel strongly about

  • I used to be able to swim in this river ...
  • There’s a crisis with mental health ...
  • It’s hard just pay the rent for some of us, let alone buy a house …
  • [your example]

What’s missing in this story now? What’s your vision for this situation in 2040?

  • I think all rivers in NZ should we swimmable.
  • I think mental health needs more funding.
  • I’d like to see us end homelessness.
  • What do you think?

What is the People's Agenda? Why do you think they should check out the website and Issues Scorecards?

I’m not sure if you knew this but I’m part of a community called ActionStation and we’ve developed a crowd-sourced vision for the future of our country, and the values that we need to commit to in order to create that future.
To help people make an informed decision this election, you can check out where the political parties stand on the issues you care about by going to peoplesagenda.nz

Give them support to vote for a more awesome New Zealand!

Did you also know you can enrol and vote at the same time at an advance polling booth this year? Advance voting starts Sep 11 and runs until Sep 22.
Do you need a ride? We can vote together!

Once you’ve done a couple of calls you’ll be on a roll!

The most important issue for me is [ ] because [ ].

The Election result on 23 September will make all the difference for a fair and flourishing Aotearoa New Zealand. The question is, which politicians share our vision? Who will speak for us?

I hope this website helps you: www.peoplesagenda.nz
